You can use get_the_category function, which returns an array of categories for a post.

Since your sidebar is most likely outside of the wordpress loop, it may be necessary to add the id of the post when you use get_the_category, although you will need to do a little playing.

Also, make sure you have something in place to print if it is empty.

If you go out of your network you will pay more out of pocket than what you need to.

Remember that to publish a photo on the web you need it at 72 dpi, not at print resolution; and no bigger than 800 x 600 pixels as thats the browser window size. Any bigger than that and just take too long to load into the browser.
